Christina Ullenius

Under her leadership as rector from 1995 to 2006, Karlstad University developed into an institution with a strong commitment to serving society through strong profiles in research, education and innovation.
Ullenius is a chemical engineer by training and had a long research and teaching career in organic chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology in gothenburg , 1975 - 1995. She has also spent periods of research in the US, eg at Princeton University. She was vice rector at Chalmers University of Technology 1989 – 1994.
She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy for Engineering Sciences.

Gülsün Sağlamer (Chair of European Women Rectors Platform)

Former Rector of Istanbul Technical University (ITU) from 1996 to 2004. Ms Gülsün Sağlamer is a professor of architecture. She has been a Board Member of EUA (European University Association) between 2005-2009 and a member of the Steering Committee of EUA's Institutional Evaluation Programme (2009-2013). In addition she is an Executive Committee Member (2003-) and Chair of European Council (2005-2010) of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP). She is the Vice-President of CMU ( Community of Mediterranean Universities. Ms Gülsün Sağlamer was the President of the Council for Technology and Technoparks in Turkey (2006-2010) ) and a Board Member of ITU's Technology Park and Incubation Centre, ARI Technocity. She is a Member of Board of Trustees of Kadir Has University since 2006 and a Board Member of ITU Development Foundation (2009-2012). She has been invited to the Marie Curie People Programme (EC) Advisory Group for 3 terms (2006-2008-2010-2012).
She has been in the Scientific Committee of TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey), INTAG between 1990-1996. Prof Saglamer has been invited to Queen's University of Belfast as Visiting Professor between 1993 and1996 and has also been invited to be an external examiner in the same university for four years between 1999 and 2003. She has been a visiting scholar at the Martin Centre, Cambridge University in 1975-76 and for short periods in 1987 and 1989. She has been on numerous juries such as the prestigious Daimler-Chrysler-UNESCO Mondialogo Engineering Prize 2005.
Since 1992 she has focused on higher education and research and realized profound reforms in her university, created many research centers in ITU and gave over 50 invited lectures on different aspects of higher education (such as research, innovation, quality assurance, funding and women leadership in HE) at international meetings. She has been invited to the" Expert Working Group On The External Research Funding of Universities", established by the EC (2007-2008) and several EC funded research projects as an expert in recent years. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the OECD/IMHE Quality Teaching Project since 2009.
She is a member of the editorial board of three international scientific journals. She has received several architectural prizes and was awarded Honoris Causa by Carleton University, Canada (2001), Universitatea de Nord Din Baia Mare University, Romania (2002) and Ovidius University of Constantza in Romania (2009). American Institute of Architects (AIA) awarded her "Honorary Fellowship (Hon FAIA) in 2006 and she has been also awarded "Leonardo da Vinci Medal" by SEFI (Société Européenne Pour la Formation Ingénieurs-European Society for Engineering Education) in 2005-2006. She is a member of European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters since 2011.

Liu Jinan
As a professor in the field of mass communication and international relations, Liu Jinan is the president of Organizing Committee of World Women University Presidents Forum, honorary president of Communication University of China (CUC), honorary president of Nanguang College of CUC and member of National Committee of cinema review.
In February 1939, Professor Liu Jinan was born in Xiaogan city of Hubei province in China. She graduated from Peking University in 1965, majoring in international politics. She has been as a teacher in CUC (former Beijing Broadcasting Institute) since 1965. From 1983 to 1992, she was vice president of Beijing Broadcasting Institute. From 1993 to 2006, she was president of CUC (former Beijing Broadcasting Institute). In 2004, Prof. Liu Jinan founded a modern college named Nanguang College of CUC which has a student
number in excess of ten thousand in Nanjing. From 2004 to 2010, she was president of Nanguang College of CUC.
Prof. Liu Jinan is one of the creators and founders in the field of mass communication and international relations, and she developed
domestic study on "national image" early. So far, she has published more than 10 books, including Mass Communication and International Relations, International Communication and Nation Image and The Image of China, etc.
Professor Liu Jinan pays long-term attention to the research of woman education and woman leadership. Since 2001, the first "World Women Presidents Forum" was held by her, five forums have been held successfully. She also produced the first television documentary, World Women University President Features Collections (15 sets). In October 2004, she was awarded the "Outstanding Achievements Annual Award" by International Association of University Presidents (IAUP). In 2011, Prof. Liu Jinan wad entrusted a significant research projects by The Ministry of Education, which is On Perfecting the Understanding of Woman Higher Education in the World and the Cohort
Study on World Women University Presidents in China under the View of
Modern University System.

Hulya Caglayan
Hulya Caglayan gained her undergraduate degree in Philosophy at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey in 2009. She then completed her Masters in Cultural Studies at Sabanci University in Istanbul, in 2011. Her MA thesis is focused on the intersecting dynamics of social exclusion in low-class women’s lives in a neighborhood located in the Tuzla district of Istanbul. She also worked as a teaching assistant at Sabanci University between 2009 and June 2012. Since August 2012 she is working at ITU as a researcher for a EU funded project, titled as "Female Empowerment in Science and Technology Academia" (FESTA).
